The East Kootenay Chamber of Mines (EKCM) is a non-profit organization, incorporated in 1992 to actively promote mining interests in southeastern British Columbia. Our membership includes representation from the general public, prospectors, geoscientists, resource companies and mine personnel (including coal, base and precious metals and industrial minerals) . The EKCM's primary objectives are to:

  • encourage support for exploration and mining activities through increased public awareness and understanding
  • inform and educate our members with respect to current issues affecting the Mining Industry
  • represent our membership when dealing with legislative and regulatory issues
  • act as a local Industry advocate in addressing policies and initiatives

Our Board of Directors, elected from membership, meets every 4 to 6 weeks in Cranbrook to review current events, manage finances, establish priorities and delegate responsibility. General membership meetings are scheduled 3 - 6 times per year throughout the region.

The EKCM is currently attempting to increase membership from resource companies and supply / service organizations. The support of Mining Industry representatives is necessary:

  • to strengthen the mandate of the EKCM, and
  • to ensure the interests of our members and industry are well represented
